Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is an upcoming film directed by Tomas Alfredson, from a screenplay by Bridget O'Connor and Peter Straughan based on the 1974 novel of the same name by John le Carre. The movie stars Gary Oldman as George Smiley with Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong, Ciaran Hinds and Benedict Cumberbatch in supporting roles. The film is produced by British company Working Title Films and is set to be released on 16 September, 2011. George Smiley comes out of semi-retirement to uncover a Russian agent. The film will be set in the 1970s.
